Rajpal Yadav

Rajpal Yadav is a well-known comic Bollywood actor. He gave several hit films during his career, including Chup Chup k, Bhool Bhulaiya, De Dana Dan, and Dhol. The famous actor is currently in Tihar Jail.

Actor Rajpal Yadav is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a cheque-bounce case. He recently surrendered to the authorities and gave an emotional statement to the police before going to jail.

Here is a closer look at the controversy surrounding the case and how it eventually led to his imprisonment.

Actor Rajpal Yadav and his wife Radha faced a case in 2018 after taking a Rs 5 crore loan in 2010 for a movie. The film failed at the box office, and the couple could not repay the loan.

The loan amount was meant for the production of Rajpal Yadav’s movie ‘Ata Pata Lapata’.

The company also claimed in its complaint that the couple had promised to return an additional Rs 8 crore.

Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case

In 2018, a magistrate’s court found Rajpal Yadav guilty under Section 138 of the Cheque Bounce Law and sentenced him to six months in jail. He challenged the verdict in higher courts, which delayed his arrest for several years, during which he made partial payments.

Now in 2026, the Delhi High Court refused to grant any further delays to Rajpal Yadav and ordered him to either make the payments or surrender to Tihar Jail.

The Delhi HC said in its order that the actor had shown a “lack of seriousness” and had failed to properly follow previous court orders.

And finally, Rajpal Yadav surrendered to Tihar Jail on February 8. Before going to jail, he told: “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”
