Fitrana Fidyah rates for 2026

Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CCI), Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has announced the prescribed rates of Sadaqatul Fitr (Fitrana) and Fidyah for fasting for year 2026.

According to the announcement, the minimum amount of Fitrana and Fidyah has been set at Rs300 per person. Dr Naeemi stated that based on wheat flour, Rs300 per person should be paid, while the amount based on barley has been fixed at Rs1,100.

Similarly, the rates have been set at Rs1,600 based on dates, Rs3,800 based on raisins, Rs5,400 based on munakka (dried berries), and Rs200 based on government-subsidised wheat flour.

The chairman explained that Sadaqatul Fitr is obligatory on every Muslim, whether free or enslaved, male or female, young or old. He advised financially well-off individuals not to limit their charity to the wheat rate but to pay Fitrana according to their financial capacity so that a greater number of deserving people may benefit.

He further stated that residents of provinces other than Punjab should calculate and pay Fitrana and Fidyah according to the prevailing prices of food commodities in their respective regions.

Dr Naeemi also announced the Fidyah for 30 missed fasts, stating that it would amount to Rs9,000 based on wheat, Rs33,000 based on barley, Rs48,000 based on dates, Rs114,000 based on raisins, and Rs162,000 based on munakka. Based on government wheat flour, the Fidyah for 30 fasts comes to Rs6,000.

He added that the kaffarah (expiation) for deliberately breaking a fast is either to observe 60 consecutive fasts or to feed 60 needy persons two meals each.

According to the chairman, the nisab (minimum quantity) for wheat is half a sa‘a, approximately two kilograms, while for barley, dates and munakka it is one sa‘a, approximately four kilograms.
