The upcoming Holy month of Ramazan is just around the corner, and this year the duration of fasting will vary from country to country.
According to astronomical calculations conducted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October last year, Ramazan 2026 is expected to begin on February 19. However, the final announcement will be made after the sighting of the Ramazan’s moon.
In Pakistan, the duration of fasting during Ramazan usually ranges between 13 and 13.5 hours, depending on geographical location and seasonal conditions.
At the beginning of Ramazan, fasting lasts for about 13 hours, gradually increasing to approximately 13.5 hours by the end of the month.
Fasting durations during Ramazan 2026 are expected to vary across different Muslim countries. In the early days of Ramazan, fasting hours will be around 12 hours, increasing to nearly 13 hours toward the end of the month.
As Ramazan will coincide with the end of winter and the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, fasting hours will generally be shorter.
However, with the gradual increase in daylight hours, fasting durations will become slightly longer during the final days of the month.
In the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman fasting hours are expected to remain within the range of 12 to 13 hours, with only minor variations.
In contrast, Muslims in various parts of Europe, including the United Kingdom and Germany, will observe longer fasting hours due to the higher latitudes and longer daylight periods.
It is worth mentioning here that Ramazan 2026 is expected to begin on Tuesday, February 17, or Wednesday, February 18, subject to the sighting of the moon. The Holy month of fasting is anticipated to conclude between March 18 and March 20, 2026, culminating in the celebration of Eid-al-Fitr.
