PSL 11 Islamabad United beat Pindi by 7 wickets

In the 12th match of PSL 11, Islamabad United defeated Rawalpindi by 7 wickets. Young, talented opener Sameer Minhas played a match-winning innings of 70 runs, while Haider Ali remained not out on 26 and Mark Chapman on 24.

Batting first, Rawalpindi posted a total of 156 for 7 in their allotted overs, setting a target of 157 for Islamabad United. Mohammad Amir and Rashad Hussain took one wicket apiece for Rawalpindi. In response, Islamabad United’s chase faltered despite an aggressive 44 off 19 balls from Diane Forrester.

From Rawalpindi, Kamran Ghulam scored 50 runs off 39 balls, and Abdullah Fazal made 23. Captain Mohammad Rizwan managed just 2 runs before being dismissed, while Yasir Khan also scored 2. Daryl Mitchell and Sam Billings made 19 and 7, respectively. Richard Gleeson and Salman Irshad took two wickets each.

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan, who had won the toss and opted to field first, explained the decision, saying, “Considering the conditions, we decided to chase as dew at night makes it difficult for spinners.” He also confirmed changes in the team, with Richard Gleeson and Mohammad Faiq replacing Salman Mirza and Andres Ghaus. Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan expressed confidence in his team’s batting, stating, “We will make an effort to post a big total on the scoreboard.”

In the Lahore leg of the HBL Pakistan Super League 11, Rawalpindi posted a competitive total of 156/7 in their allotted 20 overs, setting a target of 157 runs for Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium.
