Web desk: Details have emerged regarding the recovery made during the police raid at the residence of a religious party leader.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, cash, jewellery, and large amounts of foreign currency were seized during the operation.
Pakistani currency amounting to Rs144.4 million and 1,922 gold bars valued at over Rs63.4 million were recovered.
In addition, Indian currency worth Rs50,000 was found, along with foreign currency from Britain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, valued at more than Rs2.5 million.
The Punjab Police confirmed that representatives from the FIA and Cyber Crime Agency were present during the raid, and their testimonies have been included in the official record.
Crackdown Against Propaganda Factories
Additionally, the Pakistani government has initiated a large-scale crackdown on the spread of fake news during ongoing protests by a religious party, sources confirmed.
Authorities have identified several fake news networks and prepared a list of key individuals involved.
Cases will be registered under the NCCIA. Additionally, the FIA Cybercrime Wing and other special units are set to arrest the accused.
A Deep Fake Lab is examining fabricated videos and audio to trace their origin.
Social media platforms have been issued notices to remove false content within 24 hours. The permanent suspension of repeat offenders’ accounts is under consideration.
Officials have also warned the public against sharing unverified clips. They are stressing that legal action may be taken for spreading misinformation.
A zero-tolerance policy has also been enforced against false or hateful content targeting state institutions.
Officials revealed that many fake accounts are being operated from India and Afghanistan.
Provincial focal persons and counter-messaging units have been activated for rapid response.
The government has also launched the official helpline 1919 to report fake news, assuring citizens that informants’ identities will remain confidential.
