Pakistan’s renowned actor and musician Khalid Nizami has passed away in Karachi after a prolonged illness.
According to his family, Nizami had been unwell for a long time and was receiving medical treatment. His funeral prayers will be offered tomorrow after Zuhr prayers at Osmania Mosque, Buffer Zone 15-B, Karachi Central.
Born in 1947 in Mussoorie, Dehradun district, Uttarakhand, India, Khalid Nizami received his early education at Karachi Grammar School and later completed his bachelor’s degree from Islamia College, Karachi.
Khalid Nizami was regarded as one of Pakistan’s leading actors and comedians. He earned immense popularity among audiences through his distinctive acting style, exceptional sense of humour and natural performances.
Memorable performances in popular PTV dramas
He rose to fame with his memorable performances in popular PTV dramas, including Uncle Urfi (1972), Shahzoori (1974) and Ankahi (1982). He also appeared in several other acclaimed dramas, including Haseena Moin’s Khel Eid Ka Joora.
Nizami also showcased his versatility in films. His notable film appearances included Nadeem Islam’s Haqeeqat (1974), Pahaan (1975) and the Punjabi film Aj Diyan Kadiyan (1977).
Apart from acting, Khalid Nizami was also a talented musician and composer. He composed the popular song “Tum Sang Neena Laage, Maane Na Hi Jiya,” sung by vocalist Rubina Badar.
His death marks the loss of a celebrated figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Fans and fellow artists have expressed their grief and paid tribute to his remarkable contribution to television, film and music.
