Rescue 1122 Shangla has warned locals over the risk of flash floods and land sliding amid rainy season across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the the District Emergency Office 1122, rescue workers have been told to stay on high alert to tackle any situation.
The authority has further informed Rescue 1122 stations of Alpuri, Pooran, Chakaisar and Bisham to ensure the availability of staff and equipment.
Locals have been advised to not cross any streams during the rainy season amid the risk of floods across KP.
On the other hand, tourists have been warned against travelling to the mountainous district of Shangla at this time.
Heavy rain forecasted across Pakistan starting June 16
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a weather alert forecasting heavy rain and hailstorms from June 16 across multiple regions in Pakistan.
As per the weather alert issued by the PMD, the rain spell will remain in effect from June 16 to June 20, 2026.
The incoming western waves have already arrived in the northern areas of Pakistan.
The following areas across KP, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Kurram, will be experiencing rain and thunderstorms from June 16 to June 20.
The weather authority also warned that the upcoming monsoon season may bring uneven rainfall patterns, with risks of urban flooding, heatwave and water shortages across different parts of the country.
