OKARA: A rickshaw driver has landed into trouble with the authorities for playing the song of famous singer Naseebo Lal too loudly.
Okara police has arrested the rickshaw driver and registered a case against him for violating the Punjab Sound System Act.
If convicted the rickshaw driver could face jail time up to six months and a fine of Rs 25,000 to Rs 100,000.
The police said that the action was taken under the Punjab Sound System Act.
The police spokesperson said that violation of the law will not be tolerated under any circumstances, strict action will be taken against the violators.
Naseebo Lal is one of Pakistan’s most powerful and fearless voices in Punjabi music. Known for her high-pitched, soulful singing and emotional performances, she has sung everything from film hits to the viral PSL anthem “Groove Mera.”
Her songs are particularly popular among truckers, rickshaw drivers, and wedding crowds across Punjab and are often played loudly.
It may be noted that last month a case was registered against a person in Lahore for playing a song by Noor Jahan loudly in a car.
Under the Punjab Sound System Act 2015, unnecessary and loud use of sound systems is prohibited in the province.
According to the law, the violator can be sentenced to imprisonment for up to six months and a fine of Rs 25,000 to Rs 100,000.
