Ronaldo fails to shine as DR Congo earn World Cup point

Ronaldo World Cup

The sixth World Cup for world famous player Cristiano Ronaldo got off to a disappointing start as the Democratic Republic of Congo secured their first point in the 2026 World Cup.

Their match with Portugal was a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Ronaldo who is now 41 years old, was mostly on the sidelines during the match. He failed to make any impact in the match especially when compared to his great rival Lionel Messi who in his first match scored a hat-trick.

It is important to note that DRC’s achievement is very impressive considering their preparations were disrupted by Ebola outbreak back in their country.

Wrist bands were also being worn by the players of Portugal given to them by the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luis Montenegro.

The wrist bands were a tribute to the late team-mate Diogo Jota. He was killed in a car crash last year.

Portugal was able to score their first goal in the sixth minute of the game. However, despite this they were not able to score another goal and DRC made a comeback by equaling the score.

This is the sixth FIFA World Cup for the legendary player Cristiano Ronaldo. He is 41-years-old. He has become one of the oldest players to have played in FIFA.

The only person who is older than him and has played a FIFA match is Roger Milla who played for Cameroon. He played against Russia.

He was 42 years old and 39 days old. He played the match on June 28, 1994. Cristiano Ronaldo is currently 41 years old and 132 days.

The national team of Ronaldo, Portugal has never won a World Cup. This is most probably the last World Cup for Ronaldo. So, this will be the last chance for Ronaldo to win a World Cup.
