The Pakistan Engineering Council has approved a major opportunity for fresh graduates, selecting 1,700 engineers under its Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program, offering a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 along with six months of industry training.

The selection was finalized through a transparent digital balloting process for the program’s second batch. The ceremony took place at the PEC Regional Office in Lahore, where Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir inaugurated the process, while senior officials and governing body members joined virtually.

According to officials, around 5,300 candidates applied for the program. After screening, 3,982 applicants were shortlisted, and 1,700 were ultimately selected through digital balloting.

The council stated that the program is being implemented through dedicated online portals, connecting engineers with employers. Partnerships have been established with leading public and private sector organizations to ensure structured, industry-based training.

Out of the total placements, 300 seats were specifically reserved for graduates from Balochistan, all of which have been successfully filled. The remaining 1,400 candidates were selected from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir said the special quota for Balochistan is aimed at increasing opportunities for youth in the province, reducing socio-economic disparities, and integrating them into the national engineering workforce.

He described the GET program as a transformative initiative designed to equip young engineers with practical, industry-focused skills, adding that the council remains committed to merit, transparency, and equal opportunity nationwide.

The GET program is a fully PEC-funded six-month initiative, similar to a “house job,” consisting of five months of field training and one month of skill development. Successful participants will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 along with a certified completion certificate featuring QR code verification.

Earlier, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) announced new job opportunities for graduate men and women across the country. The hiring will be on a contract basis in different districts.

These vacancies also include districts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
