According to a private media news channel, the Punjab government has announced that the Chief Minister’s Revolutionary Internship Program for veterinary graduates and para-veterinarians has been extended to May 15.
The program provides a great chance for young professionals to obtain some working experience and at the same time earn a stipend.
The program will offer a monthly stipend of Rs60,000 to veterinary graduates and a monthly stipend of Rs40,000 to para-vet interns.
The scheme will accommodate 264 veterinary graduates and 371 para-vets, all with a total budget of Rs600 million.
To achieve fair representation, each district has been assigned a quota of districts throughout the Punjab.
The internship will be aimed at filling the gap between academic study and fieldwork.
The shortlisted candidates will be deployed in real world situations where they will be engaged in activities such as animal vaccination, detection of diseases, treatment, and advisory services to livestock farmers.
Such practical exposure is hoped to empower their technical expertise and service delivery in livestock sector.
In the case of veterinary graduates, the applicant must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an HEC-recognised institution, should not be over 25 years old and must have a valid registration by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC).
They should also be registered in the concerned district, be presently unemployed and possess a smartphone.
Para-vet applicants should have finished a two-year Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD), be under the age of 20 years, have a district domicile, and cannot be employed in any other type of organisation.
It will also require a smartphone.
