Web desk: Pakistan played against South Africa in the first One Day International (ODI) of a three-match series at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium.

Pakistan beat South Africa by two wickets in the first One Day International (ODI).

Pakistan successfully chased a target of 264 runs, with Salman Agha scoring 62 runs. South Africa had started well but lost momentum and were all out for 263.

In the first match of the three-match ODI series at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, Pakistan defeated South Africa by 2 wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Pakistan reached the target in the 49th over with strong batting performances chasing 264 runs. South Africa started well but lost momentum, finishing at 263 all out in 49 overs.

For South Africa, openers Quinton de Kock and Lhuan-dre Pretorius added 98 runs together.

Pretorius scored 57 before being caught by Mohammad Nawaz off Saim Ayub, while de Kock was the top scorer with 63 runs.

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each, while Saim Ayub claimed two. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.

Afridi was the most expensive bowler, giving away 55 runs for one wicket. This match marked Shaheen Shah Afridi’s first time leading Pakistan in a home series.

Three players made their ODI debuts for South Africa, while Dewald Brevis was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

SA vs Pak: First ODI

South Africa batted first after Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and chose to field. The current score is 113/1 in 18.2 overs, with Quinton de Kock on 43* and Tony de Zorzi on 8*.

South Africa’s third wicket has now fallen. Saim Ayub took two wickets, dismissing Ihuan-dre Pretorius for 18 and Tony de Zorzi for 57.

Naseem Shah took the wicket of Quinton de Kock, who scored 63 runs. This series marks the return of international cricket to Faisalabad after 17 years.

All three ODIs will be played at the Iqbal Stadium. The first match is being held today, November 4, followed by the second on November 6 and the final game on November 8.

Ahead of the first ODI, South Africa suffered a major setback as middle-order batter Dewald Brevis was ruled out of the series due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain.

He injured his shoulder during the third T20I in Lahore on Saturday. Team officials said Brevis will stay in Pakistan to recover with the Proteas medical staff before the upcoming Test tour of India.
