Saif al-Islam, son of Muammar Gaddafi, killed in Libya

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former prominent leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been killed in Libya, the private media outlet reported.

Saif al-Islam’s lawyer, Khaled al-Zaidi and his political adviser Abdulla Othman announced the death of Saif al-Islam on Facebook on Tuesday. Khaled al-Zaidi didn’t provide extra details on Facebook.

According to a Libyan news outlet, an armed man killed Saif al-Islam in his house in Zintan, some 136km (85 miles) southwest of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the political team leader, issued a statement, saying that four masked men attacked his house and killed him.

Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, met Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, at Air Headquarters on Monday. Senior military officials from Pakistan and Libya held talks in Islamabad, focusing on regional security and closer defence cooperation between the two countries.

According to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting covered issues of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and ways to strengthen military ties.

Focus on security and training

During the meeting, the Air Chief spoke about the Pakistan Air Force’s operational readiness and ongoing modernisation efforts. He highlighted developments in technology, training, and what the PAF describes as multi-domain capabilities.

He also referred to the long-standing religious and historical links between Pakistan and Libya, and said Pakistan remained committed to expanding professional cooperation with the Libyan Air Force.
