PTI Senator Saifullah Abro Resigns

Web desk: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) member, Senator Saifullah Abro, has resigned from his senator seat.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Senator Saifullah Abro has resigned from his seat, which was set to continue until March 2027.

Senator Saifullah Abro was elected in 2021 from Sindh on a PTI ticket.

Senator Saifullah Abro Resigns

Earlier, unexpectedly, PTI Senator Saifullah Abro voted in favour of the 27th Amendment, going against his party’s official standing on the matter. 

Speaking on the matter, he said, “I am resigning from my seat and senatorship.”

‘The party did not side with me at the time of my wife’s arrest,’ he said while talking to the media.

Abro also expressed his respect for Pakistan’s armed forces, stating, “We have great respect for our armed forces.”

“If anyone is mistaken, let me say that I came here to vote for Asim Munir, not for anyone else,” said Abro.

He also stated that he voted in favour of the 27th constitutional amendment because of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He dismissed any other reason for voting in favour of the amendment.

He added that India admitted defeat following a statement by the United States. “While India was initially hesitant to accept the defeat. However, the situation was ultimately ‘cleared’ by the United States President Donald Trump as he showed respect to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir,” said Abro.

Senate Passes 27th Amendment 

The 27th Constitutional Amendment was passed in the Senate on Monday with a two-thirds majority, despite opposition uproar.

The amendment contained 59 clauses, each of which was presented and voted on individually during the session.

All 59 clauses were approved with the required two-thirds majority.
Chaos erupted in the upper house during the voting.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members staged a protest and tore copies of the amendment. The situation intensified, prompting the Senate Chairman to summon the Sergeant-at-Arms.
