Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has inaugurated the Salam Karachi Festival, with a series of cultural, entertainment, sports and musical events scheduled across the city from August 25 to September 7.
According to the festival schedule, a grand bazaar, cultural dance show and women’s stalls will be organised at Frere Hall on August 25. A bike rally from the airport to Metropole will follow on August 26.
A family festival, talent hunt and musical night will be held at Safari Park on August 27, with free entry for visitors. On August 28, a cycling rally from Sea View to Do Darya will be held along with other activities.
The Salam Karachi Food Festival will take place on Burns Road on August 29, followed by a road show and musical performances at Teen Talwar on August 30. A marathon will also be organised at Sea View on August 31.
The festival will continue in September with a seminar and awards ceremony at NED University on September 1, a family festival at Port Grand on September 2 and another seminar and awards ceremony at Sir Syed University on September 3.
A family musical and kids festival will be held at Safari Park on September 4, while Shahrah-e-Faisal will host a road show and musical performances on September 5.
On September 6, a car rally will be organised at Sea View to mark Pakistan’s Defence Day.
The festival will conclude on September 7 with a closing ceremony featuring an awards show and musical programme for Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) staff.
