Which Samsung smartphones are set to get One UI 9 update?

Samsung One UI 9 update

Samsung is preparing for the next major update to its mobile software, One UI 9, as the Android 17 Beta 1 went live on February 13, 2026. While many users are still receiving the One UI 8.5 update, internal tests suggest the company is already laying the groundwork for its next-generation interface.

Experts expect One UI 9 to officially launch around July 2026. It is likely to coincide with the release of Samsung’s new foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. However, owners of recent flagship models such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra and S25 series could get an early look. A public beta is rumoured to begin as soon as May, giving users a chance to try out Android 17’s features before the full release.

Which smartphones will the new Samsung update?

Although Samsung has not published an official list, devices covered by its seven-year update policy are expected to receive One UI 9. The Galaxy S26 series is likely to be first in line for the beta in May. The S25 and S24 series are also in internal testing, suggesting they will be supported.

Foldable devices follow a similar pattern. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are already being used to test the new software internally. The upcoming Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, along with the rumoured “Wide Fold,” are expected to ship with One UI 9.

For Samsung’s A-series, newer models such as the Galaxy A56 and A36 are likely to get the update later in 2026. Premium tablets, including the Galaxy Tab S10 and S11, are now considered a priority and are expected to receive One UI 9 alongside the S-series phones.

One unexpected addition may be the Galaxy S23 series. Despite being the oldest active flagship in Samsung’s lineup, it is expected to receive One UI 9 as its fourth and final major update.

Smartphones that may miss out

Not all Samsung phones will get the new software. As of early February, the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Z Fold 4 have moved to a quarterly security update schedule. This means they are expected to stop at One UI 8.5. The S21 FE and A53 are also in this category.

While these devices will continue to work, they will miss new features brought by Android 17, including AI-driven browser tools and system-level resizing options. For users considering an upgrade, this may be a reason to move to the S26.

Samsung has not confirmed whether older models will participate in beta testing. The company is expected to provide a formal update roadmap later in the spring. Users are advised to check the Samsung Members app or the company’s official channels for confirmed eligibility.
