Sana Yousaf murder case: Accused accuses police of framing him

Sana Yousaf murder case

Key accused Umar Hayat has rejected all charges against him in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf and has accused the police of framing him.

The hearing was held at the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka on Monday.

During the proceedings, the accused’s statement under Section 342 was recorded, in which he rejected all charges against him.

The accused told the court he had no dispute or contact with Sana Yousaf. He said he never requested to meet her. He claimed he was arrested on suspicion only because both were known on social media. He added that Sana’s followers created pressure on police through social media, which led to his implication in the case.

During the hearing, the judge asked several questions about the accused’s alleged presence, a rented vehicle, and the crime scene. However, the accused repeatedly said he could not respond without a lawyer.

The court later remarked that a Section 342 statement is recorded between the judge and the accused, and does not require a lawyer.

During the hearing, the judge expressed anger over video recording in the courtroom and said no videos or TikTok content would be allowed inside.

Later, the accused recorded his statement again in the presence of a lawyer. He maintained he had no link to the case, did not travel to Islamabad, and was not involved in the incident.

He further claimed he was arrested from Jaranwala on suspicion. He alleged that police made his videos viral and fabricated a rent agreement to strengthen the case.

He also alleged that the police had forced Sana Yousaf’s family to identify him as the killer.
