Sanam Javed Arrested in Peshawar as Officials Promise Full May 9 Probe

Law and enforcement authorities said Sanam Javed, a prominent suspect in the May 9 unrest cases, was taken into custody in Peshawar, with investigators citing ongoing probes tied to multiple complaints.

In a statement summarising the action, officials said the arrest complied with legal requirements and that inquiries are proceeding on the basis of case evidence.

The government reiterated that anyone accused of acting against public order would be dealt with according to law, while insisting that no individual can evade justice.

Officials also pledged a comprehensive, fair and transparent investigation into all allegations of rioting and violence linked to the May 9 events nationwide.

They added that her sister, Falak Javed, had been arrested earlier in related matters.
