PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has registered an FIR over the alleged abduction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed on the directives of Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur.
The FIR registered at the Sharqi Police Station in Peshawar on behalf of Advocate Hira Babar.
The development was also confirmed by the spokesperson for Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He stated that CM Gandapur took notice of the alleged kidnapping and ordered a thorough and transparent investigation. He has directed that those involved be immediately arrested in accordance with the law and that all findings be made public.
It is pertinent to mention here that law and enforcement authorities had said Sanam Javed, a prominent suspect in the May 9 unrest cases, was taken into custody in Peshawar, with investigators citing ongoing probes tied to multiple complaints.
In a statement summarising the action, officials said the arrest complied with legal requirements and that inquiries are proceeding on the basis of case evidence.
The government reiterated that anyone accused of acting against public order would be dealt with according to law, while insisting that no individual can evade justice.
Officials also pledged a comprehensive, fair and transparent investigation into all allegations of rioting and violence linked to the May 9 events nationwide.
They added that her sister, Falak Javed, had been arrested earlier in related matters.
