Sannia Ashfaq, the ex-wife of the former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim, has broken silence on the reasons for ending marriage between the two. In a scathing Instagram post, she asserted that the third party involvement is what ultimately caused their separation.

She said that she was speaking from a place of deep pain. Sannia said that she was responding to a recent statement by Imad Wasim. She wrote that her home had been destroyed and her children left fatherless. She pointed out that she’s the mother of three including a five-month-old baby who never has been held by his father, she said.

Sannia said that this was not a story she ever wanted to tell. However, she emphasized that silence should not be taken for weakness. She said that like many marriages, theirs too were not without challenges. Despite this, the marriage went on, and she took her duty of being a wife and mother very seriously. She said she made sincere efforts to hold her family together.

According to Sannia, one of the issues that finally put an end to the marriage was the intervention of a third party. She accused this person of trying to get her husband to marry her and this was the death of an already tenuous relationship. Following this, she said she was left with suffering emotions, mistreatment and abandonment during pregnancy. She added that she suffered these miseries with patience for the sake of her children and the dignity of her home.

She further contended that the divorce process has legal controversies and is under the magnifying glass of law. Sannia said the truth would come out through the proper legal channels. Taking alleged threats into account, she warned that attempts to silence or intimidate her would not go unanswered.

Sannia also quoted verses from the Quran and focus on accountability and justice: She concluded by saying she did not speak out of spirit of revenge, but for the sake of truth, her children and women who are told to suffer in silence.
