Web desk: Veteran Indian actor Satish Shah, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 74, was preparing for a new film role, according to Indian Media reports.
The much-loved star, known for his iconic roles in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Main Hoon Na, died from kidney failure, according to Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) official Ashoke Pandit.
Satish Shah’s Last Selfie
Director Vivek Sharma, who had worked with Shah in Bhoothnath, revealed that the actor was all set to return to the screen with a new role and had recently undergone a major physical transformation.
Sharing his grief on Instagram, Vivek wrote, “Ye aapne theek nahi kiya Satish Shah ji. Mere guru, mere guide, mere bade bhai nahi rahe. Aaj subah hi chat hui thi. Mujhe kaha tha ‘aaja milne.’ Last week aapne selfie bheji thi, mujhe kya pata tha ye aakhri selfie hogi. Aap to meri filmon mein kaam karne wale the. Aap chale gaye.”
Vivek also shared behind-the-scenes photos from Bhoothnath along with the last selfie Satish had sent him.
In the photo, Shah appeared cheerful and slimmer, dressed in a yellow t-shirt, showing off his new look.

Reports from Indian media said he was enthusiastic about his upcoming project and had joked about giving “tough competition to heroes.”
Satish Shah’s Death
News of his death was confirmed by Ashoke Pandit, who wrote on Instagram, “It is with deep sorrow that I inform you that our dear friend and a remarkable actor, Satish Shah, passed away a few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he breathed his last. A tremendous loss to the industry. Om Shanti.”
Satish Shah’s passing has left the Indian entertainment industry in deep shock.
He was known for his natural comic timing, warmth, and versatility and entertained audiences for decades through both television and film.
From playing the hilarious Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai to his many film appearances, Shah earned immense love and respect across generations.
