Saudi Arabia assures oil supply to Pakistan through alternative route

Saudi Arabia has assured Pakistan of continued oil supply through an alternative shipping route.

According to media reports, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki during which Pakistan requested the use of Yanbu Port as an alternative oil supply route.

During the meeting Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its full support and cooperation.

Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that Saudi authorities have guaranteed the security of oil supplies through the Red Sea port of Yanbu.

He said that assurances were also given regarding the dispatch of a vessel from Pakistan to Yanbu Port for lifting crude oil shipments.

The federal minister expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its support during this period and voiced hope that Pakistan would be given priority in oil supplies through Yanbu Port.

Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki said that Saudi Arabia would continue to extend full cooperation to Pakistan in case of any emergency needs adding that both countries would stand by each other during challenging times.

Ali Pervaiz Malik further said that the Government of Pakistan is making all possible efforts to ensure uninterrupted energy supply for the public.

He said that most of Pakistan’s petroleum imports arrive through the Strait of Hormuz and under the current circumstances support from brotherly countries like Saudi Arabia is of critical importance.
