Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today with religious devotion and enthusiasm in Saudi Arabia as well as in the other Gulf countries and in many parts of the world.
The most important Eid congregations took place at Masjid al-Haram, the grand mosque in Makkah and at Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, the great Mosque of Madinah, in which its congregations were composed of millions of loyal worshipers who came together offering Eid prayers in an atmosphere of unity and spiritual reflection.
On this occasion, for Muslims worldwide, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud sent his greetings for Eid.
In his message, he underlined the ongoing Saudi Arabia’s efforts for the promotion of global peace and respecting security and stability, especially in dealing with the continued efforts to resolve regional challenges.
He prayed for the protection of the nation, the people and the Muslim world at large and hoped for lasting peace, prosperity and safety.
King Salman also sent special prayers for the country’s armed forces, that they receive strength and success in protecting the country’s borders.
He referred to the Kingdom’s lasting duty as the guardian of the Two Holy mosques, and said that a large number of resources is allocated to ensuring the comfort and safety of pilgrims.
He reaffirmed that the service of the holy sites and their visitors is a central pillar of the nation’s mission since its inception, and that their efforts will not stop.
Eid celebrations are also taking place in countries including Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, Palestine and Iraq.
In Australia Prime minister Anthony Albanese visited a mosque in Sydney to extend greetings to the Muslim community.
Eid has also been celebrated in the United States as a result of moon sighting announcements.
Similarly, large Muslim populations throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, are celebrating the festival today.
