Saudi Government cracks down on labor laws and iqama violators

WEB DESK: Authorities in Saudi Arabia have deported over 12,000 illegal immigrants in a single week for breaching residency and labour laws.

Officials told the media that during security inspections and border checks, nearly 18,000 violations were recorded between 11 and 17 December.

Furthermore, a total of 12,661 individuals were deported back to their homelands. Because they did not meet the requirements to legally stay in the country.

The Ministry of Interior has warned that anyone helping illegal residents will be imprisoned and fined heavily.

During the operations, more than 1,500 people were detained while illegally entering the national borders of the Kingdom.

Illegal Nationals

The majority of them were identified as Ethiopian and Yemeni nationals who were seeking unauthorised employment or residency within Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, fifteen people were arrested for providing illegal immigrants with travel, housing, or jobs, which remains a very serious crime.

These strict measures aim to regulate the local labour market and ensure national security is maintained at all times.

The Government is continuously using a digital tracking system. So they can detect those whose visa limit has reached and are living illegally within the State.
