State Bank of Pakistan declares public holiday on December 25

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced public holiday on December 25 on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

As per the notification issued on Monday, the State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on December 25, 2025 (Thursday) being public holiday on the occasions of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas, as declared by the Government of Pakistan.

Subsequently all banks will remain closed on the day.

The banks will resume normal business hours on Friday ( December 26).

Sindh has already announced two day public holiday on December 25 and December 26. The December 26 holiday has been announced for the Christian community due to Christmas.

Meanwhile the Punjab government on Monday has announced public holidays on December 25 and 26 to mark Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

SBP injects Rs12.43 trillion

The State Bank of Pakistan has injected Rs12.43 trillion into the financial system through reverse repo transactions and Shariah-compliant Mudarabah-based open market operations.

The move underscores the central bank’s active role in maintaining liquidity, supporting market stability, and managing short-term funding needs amid changing monetary conditions.
