Supreme Court decision is not part of any deal: Barrister Gohar

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has clarified that the Supreme Court’s decision is not the result of any deal, but is related to the health and treatment of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, which he described as his fundamental right. Speaking to the media at Parliament House in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar said that PTI had made considerable efforts to reach the stage at which the Supreme Court issued its decision.

He said the government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court, but it has not yet been assigned a case number. Barrister Gohar expressed hope that the court’s decision would be implemented in full and that no obstacles would be created in its implementation.

He appealed to all political parties to act responsibly and not undermine the matter. He also urged the authorities and the government to allow the Supreme Court’s decision to be implemented. The PTI chairman further directed the party’s social media activists to exercise restraint and avoid making statements or taking actions that could negatively affect the situation.

He said Imran Khan’s health remains the party’s top priority and that there should be no politics on the issue. Barrister Gohar added that, given Imran Khan’s temperament, he would remain in the hospital only for as long as necessary to complete his treatment. Addressing the government, he said there was no need for concern, as PTI had provided every possible assurance in this regard.

On the other hand, the Islamabad administration has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the court’s decision to shift former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital. According to reports, the review petition was submitted to the Supreme Court by the Advocate General of Islamabad on behalf of the Chief Commissioner. The petition argues that the Supreme Court’s earlier decision and written order should be reviewed, and that the legal and administrative aspects of transferring Imran Khan to the hospital should be reconsidered.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that the Supreme Court’s order to shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital was not in accordance with the law. Tarar said the authorities had reviewed the order concerning the PTI founder’s treatment and had also consulted on other aspects of the ruling. He said the authorities believe that the directive to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital does not align with existing laws and procedures.

The law minister also pointed out that many prisoners suffer from health problems and that convicted prisoners are generally provided treatment at government hospitals. He questioned whether the Supreme Court’s order regarding Imran Khan’s treatment would also apply to other prisoners facing similar health issues.
