ISLAMABAD: Senior Pusine Justice of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minullah have resign from their post on Thursday.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has send his resignation to the president for approval.
In his resignation he said that he served the institution with dignity, honesty, and integrity.
Justice Mansoor further wrote that his conscience is clear and he has no regrets. He added that he is resigning from his position as the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has said that the 27th Constitutional Amendment amounts to an attack on the Constitution.
In his resignation, he stated that through this amendment, the Supreme Court has been practically dismantled, and the judiciary has been turned into a subordinate institution of the executive.
He said he could not remain part of a system where the independence of the judiciary was being compromised.
In his five page resignation, he said there would be no justice for the poor.
SC justice Athar Minullah has also resigned from his post and sent his resignation to the president for approval.
In his resignation he said, ” The Constitution that I swore an oath to uphold and defend is no more. Much as I have tried to convince myself otherwise, I can think of no greater assault on its memory than to pretend that, as new foundations are now laid, they rest upon anything other than its grave”.

Both the judges have moved out of their chambers in the Supreme Court.
