As the cold wave ends in Islamabad, the timings of schools and colleges have also changed to non-winter timings in the federal capital.
As per details, new timings were announced for schools and colleges in Islamabad for winter season. However, the educational institutions have resumed their normal timings on Monday (today).
From today onwards, all the public and private schools and colleges have restored their standard morning opening and closing hours.
Punjab announces new school timings
Earlier, the Punjab School Education Department announced new timings for government schools across the province, which will take effect from January 19 and remain in place until April 15, 2026.
The changes apply to both single-shift and double-shift schools and are part of an effort to adjust schedules during the winter period, according to an official notification.
New shifts
Under the new arrangement, students in single-shift schools will attend classes from 10:00am to 2:15pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, teaching hours will be shorter, running from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
For schools operating on a double-shift system, the morning shift will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm, while the afternoon shift will begin at 2:15pm and end at 4:45pm.
Teachers attendance compulsory
Preparation, training activities and curricular preparation have been included in the hours from Monday to Thursday for teachers.
According to the notification, it has been made mandatory for teachers to participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD), training and curricular activities.
Moreover, the attendance of teachers on ‘Alternate Saturday’ will also be mandatory.
Shab-e-Barat holiday for schools
Holidays have been announced in Pakistan on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
According to the latest updates, the Sindh government has announced a holiday for all public and private educational institutions across the province on Wednesday, February 4, in observance of Shab-e-Barat.
Additionally, the Punjab government announced a province-wide public holiday on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, and issued a formal notification in this regard.
