Web desk: Two militants, including a wanted ring leader, were killed during an intelligence-based operation carried out by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to a statement, the operation was conducted on December 24 in the Kulachi area following reports about the presence of Khwarij militants.
During the operation, security forces effectively engaged the militants’ hideout, resulting in the killing of two Khwarij.
Among those killed was Dilawar, identified as a ring leader. He was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies for his involvement in multiple terrorist activities.
The government had announced a reward of Rs4 million for information leading to his arrest, the statement added.
The statement read, “Killed Kharji Dilawar was highly wanted by Law enforcement agencies due to his involvement in multiple terrorist activities, and the Government had fixed a head money of PKR 4 Million on him.”
ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed Khwarij militants. Adding that they had remained actively involved in attacks against security forces, as well as the killing of innocent civilians.
Following the operation, sanitisation efforts were launched in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
The official statement further added that the security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to continuing counter-terrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign.
Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji found in the area. As a relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under the vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan), by the Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
PM Shehbaz pays tribute
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has paid tribute to the security forces for the operation against Khawarij in the Kalachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district. “Security forces are achieving great successes against terrorism,” the Prime Minister stated.
He added that the entire nation stands with Pakistan’s forces in this war against terrorism. The country will be free from all forms of terrorism, he further stated.
