ISLAMABAD: Security has been tightened in the federal capital while important roads have been closed in Rawalpindi once again through containers and police barriers.
According to the spokesperson of the Islamabad Police, a heavy contingent of police has been deployed in high security zones. SSP Security Captain (retd) Zeeshan Haider said that the police are on alert to maintain law and order and are fully prepared to deal with any untoward incident.
He said that no miscreant will be allowed to disrupt law and order. Security has been tightened at sensitive places while police patrols have been increased.
According to the SSP Security, the security situation is being monitored with the help of modern technical means and Safe City cameras. Steps are being made more effective to ensure law and order in the capital.
Authorities have once again closed several roads and motorways in and around Lahore and Islamabad after clashes broke out between Punjab police and activists of a religious party.
The situation has sparked panic among citizens, who fear a possible escalation of tensions.
On the other hand, in view of the security arrangements in Rawalpindi, Shamsabad Road has been completely closed while Murree Road has been partially closed for traffic. Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on alternative routes in various areas of the city.
According to the administration, schools have been closed earlier than usual in view of the safety of citizens so that students do not face any difficult situation.
Police officials say that the situation is being closely monitored and all available resources are being utilized to maintain law and order.
It merits mentioning that Section 144 is in effect across the city, and no individual or group has been granted permission to hold protests.
