There have been rumours that September 6 will be a public holiday in Pakistan. Since the day falls on a Sunday this year, many people may already have the day off.
Will September 6 be a public holiday?
However, September 6 is not listed as an official public holiday in Pakistan. There has also been no official announcement about declaring it a holiday.
But many individuals can still enjoy the day off, as it is going to be on a Sunday, when most people have the day off.
Why is September 6, Defence Day, not a holiday?
Defence Day, also known as Youm-e-Difa, is observed across the country as a day of remembrance. However, it is not included in the official list of paid public holidays.
Has another school holiday been announced?
Before this, there were rumours that September 2, Wednesday, would also be declared a school holiday after the administration gave a day off on September 1, Tuesday.
The holiday was announced in Rawalpindi for students’ safety as the weather had been quite rough and had led to heavy rain and traffic disruptions on major roads.
Additionally, another holiday has not been announced for Rawalpindi or Islamabad as of now.
Several low-lying areas have been flooded. The water level in Nullah Lai has also risen to a dangerous level.
Balochistan ends Friday holiday
Additionally, the Balochistan government decided to make Friday a working day in all government offices across the province, according to recent reports.
This means that the government offices will now remain open on Fridays. Officials will perform their regular duties and deal with public matters as usual.
According to a circular issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), all government offices in Balochistan will work normally on Friday.
This includes offices in Quetta as well as all other districts of Balochistan. They will remain open and continue their normal work on Fridays.
