Seven jawans martyred in DI Khan training center attack

DI KHAN: Seven police personnel were martyred and 13 injured in a terrorist attack on a police training center in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) late Friday night, while six terrorists were killed in retaliation.

According to a police spokesperson, the terrorists opened fire after heavy explosions at the main gate of the DI Khan training center, resulting in heavy casualties. The firing continued for about two hours.

DPO Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada personally supervised the operation. Police and law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The spokesperson said that a nearby NADRA office was also damaged during the attack.

Around 200 police recruits and jawans were rescued during the operation, according to the spokesperson.

The southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, have been witnessing an increase in terrorist incidents for the past few months. The recent attack is being described as a link in this chain.

According to security experts, terrorist groups have intensified efforts to regroup, however, the police and security forces have made it clear that attacks on state institutions will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
