Web desk: Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi had a disappointing debut in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Monday. The Pakistani star pacer was removed from the attack after a difficult spell in the match between the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades.
Shaheen Afridi bowled 2.4 overs for 43 runs without taking a wicket, including three no-balls and two wides.
While he started his second over positively with three dot balls, he struggled to maintain line and length in the remainder of his spell.
In the 18th over of the Renegades’ innings, Afridi delivered two full-tosses at chest height to Tim Seifert and Ollie Price.
This prompted the umpires to remove him from bowling due to dangerous deliveries.

In his third over for the Heat, Shaheen bowled to Oliver Peake, who hit a six over deep midwicket. Earlier, Shaheen had bowled a low full toss, which Peake managed to score only a single off.
The 25-year-old, trying to bowl a yorker, missed and delivered a high full toss. The on-field umpires called it a no-ball for being over waist height.
Tim Seifert took advantage, hitting it past long-on and running two runs to reach his quickfire century.
After being taken off, Afridi was seen with a slight smile, while Brisbane Heat captain Nathan McSweeney had to bowl the final two balls of the over himself.
Melbourne Renegades went on to post a massive 212 for 5 in their 20 overs.
Tim Seifert starred with a century, scoring 102 off 56 balls, while Ollie Price contributed 57 runs from 29 balls.
Shaheen Shah Afridi ended his BBL debut with 0 wickets for 43 runs in 2.5 overs for Brisbane Heat.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, making his BBL debut for the Renegades, came in at number three but managed only 4 runs from 10 balls before being dismissed.
Babar Azam in BBL
Sydney Sixers have assigned Pakistan’s prolific batter Babar Azam a unique jersey number ahead of the Big Bash League (BBL) season 15.
The franchise announced the move on Tuesday through its social media platforms, showcasing the star Pakistani batter at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground.
While Babar is widely associated with the number 56, the Sixers introduced a creative variation. The 30-year-old will sport 056 this season.
