ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a traffic diversion plan for Shaheen Chowk on Margalla Road, where construction work is underway.
On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Rs1.3 billion Shaheen Chowk expansion project stipulated to be completed in six months.
The plan will remain in effect daily from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to ensure smooth traffic flow during rush hours.
An ITP spokesperson said on Saturday that motorists coming from E-11 and DCI Road should use the F-10 Service Road via Jinnah Avenue.
Those travelling from Ninth Avenue toward Margalla Road are advised to take a right turn from Gate 5 of F-9 Park and use F-8 Park Road instead.
Similarly, drivers moving from Margalla Road toward F-10 should turn left from Faisal Chowk to reach Jinnah Avenue or use PN Zafar Chowk (near Ali Medical Center in F-8) to access Jinnah Avenue or Ninth Avenue.
The spokesperson said that ITP personnel are deployed on various points to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow. “We regret the inconvenience caused during the diversion period,” he added.
Motorists have been advised to contact the Pucar-15 or 1915 helpline for real-time traffic updates or in case of any emergency. The ITP reiterated its commitment to facilitating citizens and ensuring safe and organized movement across the capital.
