Web Desk: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday morning again visited the under-construction Shaheen Chowk Underpass in metropolitan and reviewed the ongoing finishing work at the site.
On this occasion, he also directed the relevant authorities to plant more trees around the underpass to enhance the surrounding environment.
According to the interior minister the Shaheen Chowk Underpass will be opened for traffic by December 31.
“The project will resolve the long-standing traffic issue in the area and will provide significant relief to commuters” he added.
Mohsin Naqvi said that the underpass will ensure smoother traffic flow, ease commuting and help reduce traffic congestion in the federal capital.
Earlier it was reported that the Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project is near its completion and is likely to be opened for traffic.
According to CDA officials, the construction work on the Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project is moving at a fast pace and is likely to be opened for traffic by December 31, 2025.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project and inspected construction work and reviewed on-ground progress.
The minister said the underpass will ease traffic congestion in Islamabad and directed officials to complete the project within the given timeline.
Mohsin Naqvi stressed that work pace must remain steady and ordered strict adherence to construction quality. He also directed CDA to add modern landscaping and plantations. He said the beautification will improve the project’s visual impact.
The chairman Capital Development Authority briefed the minister on project progress. According to the Capital Development Authority, structural work on the under pass has been completed.
The underpass is located at the busy junction of 9th Avenue and Khyaban-i-Iqbal. The area faces daily traffic pressure and long delays.
The project costs around Rs1.3 billion. Once completed, it will remove traffic signals at the junction.
The underpass will allow smooth and uninterrupted flow of vehicles on the busy Margalla Road
