Questions raised over Shehzad Akbar’s new claims of UK assault

Web desk: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has once again come under scrutiny after claims by Shehzad Akbar about an alleged attack in the United Kingdom.

According to reports, Akbar claimed that a person came and struck him repeatedly on the nose with around twenty punches.

It resulted in a broken nose, according to the reports. He is reportedly receiving treatment in a hospital.

Observers note that this is not the first time a story of this nature has emerged from Akbar.

Past attack claim

About a year and a half ago, he claimed that a person had attempted an acid attack outside his residence.

That alleged acid caused no physical harm to his face or body but left marks on his glasses. It prompted him to file a report with the British police.

The police conducted a thorough investigation but found no evidence to substantiate the acid attack claim. Afterwards, the case was even closed.

Now, observers note that roughly a year and a half later, news of Mohsin Naqvi’s visit to the UK and reports that certain PTI-affiliated YouTubers and vloggers might return to Pakistan appear to have coincided with Akbar’s new claims.

It is also relevant that Akbar is already under investigation in Pakistan for alleged corruption involving Malik Riaz. With video evidence purportedly showing his acknowledgement of receiving corrupt funds.

The timing of this new claim has raised questions. No video footage has been presented to support the allegation, despite Akbar’s previous claim of an acid attack.

Observers expected that security cameras around his residence would capture any such incident. However, neither footage nor independent verification of the event has emerged.
