Pakistan had captured Indian Air Force pilot Shivangi Singh during Pakistan’s successful and historic Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, claimed Indian media.
Indian media claim
Indian TV channel Republic broadcast visuals and reports claiming “Pakistan had captured IAF pilot Shivangi Singh.” The segment showed an Indian Air Force officer identified as Shivangi Singh standing with the President of India, alongside headlines implying that Pakistan falsely claimed her capture.
Claim debunked
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Fact Check stated Pakistan never claimed to capture any Indian Air Force pilot during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. Pakistan’s Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) categorically denied any capture of an Indian pilot. In his 11 May 2025 press conference, he stated clearly that “no Indian pilot is in Pakistani custody”, dismissing circulating reports on SM as baseless and fabricated.
The fake image and reports on Republic TV showing the alleged pilot standing next to the President, implying that Pakistan had ‘fabricated capturing of a pilot and downing of a Rafale’, which was being flown by the said pilot and hence the claim of downing Rafale was fabricated.
This is also on record that no ceremony has taken place along any officially recognized point of transit, whereby Pakistan returned any Serving Indian Female Pilot to India since 7 May 2025.
Misleading Claim
During his press conference on 11 May, DG ISPR while responding to a question clearly stated that no Indian pilot was in Pakistan’s captivity as all aircraft were shot down inside Indian territory after they had released their payload that hit civilian infrastructure and innocent people in Pakistan.
The Indian fake propaganda machinery is deeply embedded in the Government and media structure, wherein they unfortunately did not hesitate to even use the figure of the Indian President to push a fake narrative that has been exposed many times and many months ago.
