Sidra Amin Reprimanded for ICC Code of Conduct Breach

Pakistan's batter Sidra Amin reprimanded for violating ICC code of conduct

LAHORE: Pakistan’s batting mainstay Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match against India in Colombo, according to the ICC.

The right-handed opener was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to the “abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground fixtures, or fittings during an international match.”

The incident occurred in the 40th over of Pakistan’s innings when Sidra, after being dismissed, struck her bat forcefully on the pitch.

Along with the reprimand, one demerit point has been added to her disciplinary record.

According to ICC regulations, Level 1 offences carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.

Sidra accepted the charge and the sanction proposed by match referee Shandré Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

This is Sidra Ameen’s first offence in the past 24 months. The ICC expressed hope that the player will maintain better discipline in future matches.

Despite the disciplinary action, Sidra stood out as Pakistan’s top performer in the match, scoring a resilient 81 off 106 balls in her team’s 88-run loss.

Pakistan will next face Australia on October 8 in Colombo in the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
