Last week, the Chief Minister (CM) of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, directed authorities to make strong security arrangements for Muharram processions and majalis across the province. He also ordered departments to make sure that all civic services will remain available during the holy month.
The CM further said that maintaining law and order and helping mourners is the government’s top priority. He warned officials that any negligence or failure in arrangements would not be accepted.
During a meeting on security and facilitation measures, CM Murad Shah instructed all departments to stay alert. The CM also instructed them to improve coordination with each other.
He also asked officials to include suggestions given by religious scholars in the final Muharram plan.
He directed K Electric, HESCO and SEPCO to provide uninterrupted electricity during religious gatherings and avoid load shedding on procession routes.
The chief minister also stressed the importance of religious harmony and unity among different sects.
He urged everyone to work together to ensure Muharram is observed peacefully. He said the government will use all available resources to protect people’s lives and property across the province during the holy month.
Water supply to remain uninterrupted
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has finalised a comprehensive emergency plan to ensure an uninterrupted water supply and effective drainage services across the city during Muharram and Ashura.
According to the details, all water and sewerage related works around mosques, imambargahs, majalis venues, sabeels, and procession routes must be completed before Ashura.
