The Sindh government has decided to implement an electronic challan system for the Food Authority, following the model used in traffic enforcement, officials said.
The announcement came during a meeting between Sindh Food Minister Mahboob Mehmood Elahi and PPP Women’s Wing central president Faryal Talpur. The meeting focused on the digitalisation of the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) and efforts to improve public services.
Minister Elahi briefed Faryal Talpur on plans to introduce online registration, a complaint management system, and a digital challaning system. “These initiatives will allow the Sindh Food Authority to provide better, more transparent services to the public,” he said.
During the meeting, the minister also updated Talpur on recent actions taken by the Food Authority against substandard and unsafe food products in the province. He highlighted ongoing inspections and enforcement measures aimed at ensuring food safety and protecting consumers.
Additionally, the minister provided a detailed briefing on the department’s vet stock policy, which regulates the storage and management of food products to maintain quality and compliance with safety standards.
The move towards digitalisation is part of the government’s broader push to modernise public services and enhance accountability within regulatory bodies. Officials believe the new e-challan system will streamline processes, reduce delays, and make it easier for citizens to report violations or access services online.
The Sindh Food Authority is expected to roll out the new system in the coming months, marking a significant step towards modern, technology-driven governance in the province.
