Sindh Chief Minister (CM), on Wednesday said that the provincial government had expanded healthcare services, improving access to high end treatment and emergency care.
During the presentation of the Sindh Budget 2026-2027 in the provincial assembly, CM Murad said that the government had allocated Rs336.457 billion for the current expenditure.
For development expenditure in the health sector, Rs45.377 billion had been allocated.
The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) had also expanded cardiac services after a new outpatient complex became operational.
This facility is currently treating over 46,000 patients. It is expected to hold a 100-bed emergency block along with a clinical trial unit soon.
According to Murad Ali Shah, the Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (SIVCD) provided free treatment to over 3.44 million patients this year.
SIVCD’s new chest pain units were set up in Sanghar and Dadu.
Sukkur, Hyderabad and Tando Muhammad Khan saw the establishment of advanced cardiac intervention and electrophysiology facilities.
The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) also provided free healthcare services to patients all over Pakistan.
The Sindh CM further added that emergency healthcare services were also strengthened by Sindh Integrated Emergency and Health Services (SIEHS-1122).
Nearly 110 ambulances were added to the existing fleet, increasing the number to 545. Highway ambulance coverage was also ensured to all major roads across the province.
Sindh propose new budget for FY 2026-27
Earlier, the Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah presented a budget of Rs 3.562 trillion for the next fiscal year 2026–27, proposing a 7 percent increase both in salaries and pensions of government employees, along with allocations of Rs 620 billion for education and Rs 393 billion for health, while the minimum monthly wage has been set at Rs 43,000.
The budget deficit is expected to be Rs 36.9 billion, while revenue has been estimated at Rs 3.562 trillion.
The Sindh budget is said to be based on four key principles: constitutional rights, fiscal sustainability, national stability, and public welfare.
