A notification that has been circulating on social media concerning the posting and transfer of officers within the Sindh Police is fake and fabricated, as stated by a spokesperson for the Sindh Police on Thursday.
The spokesperson emphasised that no directive regarding the transfer of SSP Muhammad Azhar Khan Mughal has been issued by the Inspector General of the Sindh Police.
The letter that has gone viral is an effort to mislead and generate confusion among the public and the media, the spokesperson further noted.
The signatures and official seals present on the notification are fake, and the police department has begun an investigation into this issue, according to the spokesperson.
The spokesperson further warned that the Sindh Police holds the right to pursue legal action against individuals involved in spreading fraudulent official documents on social media.
Sindh police to launch special surveillance unit
Earlier, authorities in Sindh made the decision to create a special aerial surveillance unit for the police using drones and advanced technology to improve monitoring and crime prevention throughout the region, as stated by officials.
The proposed “Aerial Surveillance Division” is expected to help ongoing monitoring of urban areas, highways, railway lines, and riverine regions, which are often challenging to patrol using traditional methods.
This decision was reached during a high-level meeting led by Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police, Javed Alam Odho, at the Central Police Office in Karachi, where senior officials assessed current capabilities and future needs.
