The Sindh Cabinet has approved increasing the upper age limit for candidates appearing in the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) from 30 to 33 years, increasing the number of attempts from three to five, and reducing the passing marks for the CCE 2026 screening test from 40% to 33%.

The Sindh Cabinet made the decisions during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The meeting approved several reforms concerning the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) and other administrative matters.

The cabinet was briefed on plans to introduce information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI)-based reforms within the SPSC. Under the proposed measures, the SPSC will introduce computerised testing for single-paper examinations, with arrangements for the immediate printing of results.

A proposal was also presented to revise the marks allocated for interviews in line with the system followed by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). The cabinet was further assured that no action would be taken against candidates who participated in protests.

Sindh govt Land Management Act

The cabinet also reviewed the draft Sindh Government Land Management Act, which aims to establish a transparent legal framework for the allotment, leasing and management of government-owned land.

Murad Ali Shah stressed the need for transparency and an auction-based process for land allotments, emphasising that lease conditions must be clearly defined and the rights of all stakeholders protected.

A special committee, headed by the chief minister, has been formed to address concerns raised by various departments regarding the draft legislation. The committee will submit its recommendations at the next cabinet meeting.

Cabinet approves sugar export proposal

The Sindh Cabinet also approved a proposal to export 200,000 metric tons of sugar, restoring the province’s 30% share of the total export quota. The quota will be distributed among sugar mills in accordance with the provincial procedure.

In another decision, the cabinet approved a new policy under which the 12.5% royalty on natural gas would be received in the form of gas rather than cash. The policy will be forwarded to the Federal Petroleum Division, Finance Division and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for their input.

Tenure of Sindh Medical Institute Chief extended

In a decision concerning the healthcare sector, the cabinet approved an extension of Professor Dr Nabila Najam Soomro’s tenure until August 10, 2028.

She will continue serving as executive director of the Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The government also plans to make a new unit of the institute in Larkana operational during the current fiscal year.
