Sindh to get modern fire equipment

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting at CM House to review cooperation with China today. The meeting followed the recent visit of Asif Ali Zardari.

Officials said the focus was on turning MoUs into real projects. These projects cover energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and public services.

Murad Ali Shah told officials that the agreements must lead to real progress. He asked departments to set clear timelines. He also asked them to improve coordination with federal bodies and Chinese partners.

Fire and emergency services

The meeting reviewed plans to improve fire and emergency services. These include new fire engines, better response systems, and more fire stations. The projects will be done with Chinese companies.

Officials said consultations are complete. A government to government agreement is in progress.

The chief minister directed the Local Government Department to speed up work and complete the agreement soon.

Thar coal project

The meeting discussed a project in Thar for coal gasification. The aim is to produce fertiliser.

Pakistani and Chinese firms are working together on this plan. The project will convert coal into ammonia and urea. This can reduce imports. The feasibility studies are expected to finish by May 2026.

Livestock project

Officials reviewed plans for a livestock tracking system. The plan also includes vaccination and disease testing.

There will be technology transfer and new diagnostic labs. A livestock registration authority will also be set up.

The meeting also discussed sewage treatment and water supply projects. Some proposals were found to be very costly.

Plans for an agriculture science and education park were also reviewed. The aim is to improve crops and food security. A tyre recycling project in a special economic zone was also discussed.

Murad Ali Shah said cooperation with China can help Sindh’s development. He asked all departments to stay active. He told them to work together and keep progress going with Chinese investors.
