Web desk: Huawei has stepped into the emotional-AI market with the launch of Smart Hanhan. It is a small plush companion that has been designed to offer comfort and interaction to the user.
Huawei has introduced its first AI powered emotional companion pet called Smart Hanhan. The launch took place at the Mate 80 series event.

The device went on sale for 399 yuan, which is about 56 dollars. All three colours sold out soon after the sale started.
Smart Hanhan is designed as a soft plush companion. It is meant to give emotional support. It is not a normal entertainment gadget.
The device is small. It measures 80 by 68 by 82 millimetres. It weighs 140 grams without its limbs. Also, it is made of plush fabric, silicone, plastic and internal electronics. This mix helps it feel soft and expressive.
The pet uses Huawei’s Xiaoyi AI system. It can hold simple, natural conversations. Additionally, it reacts to emotion. It can notice changes in tone and mood. This makes its replies feel more personal.
Hanhan responds to voice, touch and movement. Tapping or stroking its head changes its facial expressions. Shaking the toy makes it move with excitement.
The device has a 1,800mAh battery. It can run for six to eight hours of constant use. With normal use, it can last for more than two days. It needs around six hours to charge fully.
Smart Hanhan works with phones that run HarmonyOS 5.0 or later. This includes the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7 and Mate 80 RS.
When connected to a phone, it creates an emotional diary. It saves conversations and daily interactions as memory entries.
Buyers also receive a three month SVIP membership. This allows unlimited conversation energy points.
