Move over seasoned pros, two-year-old Jude Owens from Manchester is already making his mark in snooker history. The toddler has secured not one, but two Guinness World Records to the surprise of many fans and professionals alike, acquiring skills far beyond his years.
On January 27, Guinness World Records confirmed that Jude at only 2 years, 261 days old was the youngest person ever to make a snooker double pot.
A double pot is a way of potting two balls into separate pockets just by one hit from the cue ball, something that only an experienced adult player can do.
Jude’s success was not limited to this. At 2 years and 302 days old he broke another record by becoming the youngest person to make a pool bank shot.
In any case, Jude’s talent was obvious almost as soon as he picked up a cue for the first time. According to his father, Luke Owens, playing on full size snooker tables was obviously an awkward proposition but the family improvised.
“In the beginning it was really difficult. We used bar stools, everywhere we went,” said Luke. Eventually, a cooking stool at home became Jude’s ideal platform on which to line up shots.
Jude is also very certain of his abilities, when asked who would win a match between him and his dad, Jude immediately replied, “Me!”, Jude’s father admits that his son has the upper hand, for now.
In addition to his achievements at such a young age, Jude has a snooker sponsorship already and made a special walk-out appearance for the 2025 UK Snooker Championship.
He has also met professional stars such as Jimmy White, John Parrott and Kyren Wilson, who have praised his extraordinary promise.
