Murree: The Murree Expressway has been closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall.
According to the Motorway Police, traffic from Phulgran Toll Plaza to Murree is closed, but the road is open for local residents and emergency traffic.
The Motorway Police says that the crew is busy removing snow to restore traffic. It should be noted that after snowfall in various parts of the country, people have turned to tourist destinations in large numbers.
The first snowfall of the winter occurred in Murree, Galiyat, Nathia Gali and Thandiani, while Abbottabad and its surrounding areas have further increased the cold due to snowfall and rain.
The Murree district administration earlier issued a weather advisory for tourists as rain and snowfall are expected to continue in Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas until January 2.
Authorities have urged travellers to check weather updates before departure, equip vehicles with snow chains and follow traffic police instructions to avoid congestion.
Facilitation centres have been set up to assist tourists, while Deputy Commissioner Agha Zahir Abbas Shirazi said ensuring visitor safety remains the administration’s top priority and advised avoiding unnecessary travel during adverse weather.
