Web desk: Sohail Afridi will take the oath as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new Chief Minister on Monday, according to the reports.
Sohail Afridi will be elected as the new Leader of the House in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday, following the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sohail Afridi has been widely described as a determined young man by observers. He will also become the first Chief Minister from the tribal region.
Under his leadership, officials said, the province is expected to move forward with new energy and commitment.
The new Chief Minister will soon form a provincial cabinet, which will include several new faces.
According to Article 130(8) of the Constitution, a Chief Minister’s resignation takes effect upon submission; it does not require the Governor’s approval. The Governor’s House confirmed receiving the resignation and issued a formal receipt.
The Governor is responsible for administering the oath to the new Chief Minister once elected.
In a statement, leaders expressed hope that the bloodshed in the province will come to an end, stressing that there is no room for terrorists in the region.
Governor’s House Confirms Receiving Gandapur’s Hand Written Resignation
The uncertainty over Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation has finally ended, as the Governor’s House has confirmed receiving his handwritten resignation letter.
According to sources, the letter was submitted after the Governor’s House repeatedly denied receiving the earlier resignation sent two days ago.
Under pressure from Imran Khan and the party leadership, Gandapur was reportedly asked to submit a handwritten resignation to avoid any procedural doubts.
The letter was personally hand delivered by Brigadier (retd) Musaddiq to the Governor’s House.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi confirmed that he has received the resignation but said his legal team will review and verify the document before proceeding further.
