The lower petroleum prices in Pakistan have led to a huge decrease in the solar panel and battery prices.
The reduction in the prices of solar panels and batteries will offer massive relief to those households considering to convert to solar energy.
As per the media reports, the solar panel prices have fallen by Rs5,000 and Rs10,000, while prices of UPS and vehicle batteries have dropped up to Rs5,000.
The salesmen have reasoned the sudden decrease in the prices with lower transportation and logistics costs after the federal government reduced petrol and diesel prices earlier.
The market analysts have said that fuel costs play a significant role in determining the prices of imported solar equipment and batteries.
Higher fuel prices generally increase transportation and operational expenses, which are ultimately taken from consumers by increasing the prices of solar panels and batteries.
The decline comes after a period of sharp increases in battery prices, as some of the brands sell their products ranging from Rs27,000 to Rs38,000 per unit over the past several months.
The latest price cuts are expected to make solar energy systems more affordable for households, particularly as consumers continue to grapple with rising electricity tariffs and energy costs.
Demand for solar installations has surged in recent years as many Pakistanis seek alternatives to conventional grid electricity.
Traders believe further reductions could follow if petroleum prices remain stable or continue to decline in the coming weeks.
The development also coincides with efforts by provincial authorities to promote renewable energy adoption.
Speaking recently, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah announced plans to facilitate financing options for middle-income households seeking to install solar power systems.
Under the proposed mechanism, consumers would pay monthly instalments broadly equivalent to their existing electricity bills.
According to Sindh CM, a household currently paying around Rs25,000 per month in electricity charges could finance a solar system through similar monthly payments, eventually reducing its dependence on costly grid power.
