Web Desk: Pakistan witnessed a significant decline in solar panel prices during the year 2025, the main reasons for which are being attributed to high production by Chinese manufacturers globally and the relatively stable rupee situation domestically. Due to these factors, prices remained low in the solar energy sector throughout the year and consumers received significant relief.
In the last weeks of 2025, the demand for solar panels decreased due to winter, as a result of which prices remained largely stable. However, in the last few days of the year, a sudden increase of 8 to 11 percent was recorded in the prices of solar panels, which once again sparked a debate in the market.
According to Muhammad Gulbaz, associated with the solar industry, there is a possibility of another 10 to 15 percent increase in the prices of solar panels in the coming months. He says that the prices of solar modules are increasing in China, which may also have an impact on the Pakistani market. According to Muhammad Gulbaz, traders who import solar panels at this time can earn better profits in the future. He said that the prices of solar panels in Pakistan may increase in the beginning of 2026, and the price per watt, which is currently Rs 27 or 28, may increase to Rs 38 or 39.
On the other hand, solar energy expert Engineer Noor Badshah has a different opinion in this regard. He says that if the rates at the end of 2025 are taken into account, there is no possibility of any major increase in the prices of solar panels in 2026. According to him, a slight increase in prices is possible, which will be between 3 and 5 percent and this is a natural part of the market adjustment.
Engineer Noor Badshah further said that due to policy changes in China, the prices of solar modules have increased by about 9 percent globally. However, he said that the global supply has not run out yet, so the chances of any unusual inflation are low.
It is also important in the context of the Pakistan’s market that at the end of 2025, solar panel prices were at historically low levels, with some panels even available for Rs 18 to 20 per watt. The increase that was seen afterwards was limited in nature. In such circumstances, the possibility of stability or a slight increase in prices is being shown during 2026, which can generally be between 3 and 10 percent. According to Hasnat Khan, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Solar Association, solar panel prices have increased by about 5 percent in recent days. He says that demand is expected to decrease in the coming months due to weather changes, which will keep prices under control. According to Hasnat Khan, the overall solar market is likely to stabilise during 2026 and there is no possibility of any unusual inflation.
